MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES:
Internships & Trainees

INTERNSHIPS & TRAINEES
 

Providing services to strengthen children, families and communities affected by domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, sexual abuse, community and school violence, substance abuse and mental health issues. Services provided around holistic Family Systems Model.

Volunteer Trainee Positions
12-18 month commitment

  • Develop expertise in establishment of therapeutic relationships
  • Learn to complete bio-psychosocial assessment, facilitate Family Development Matrix and determine DSM diagnosis
  • Create family driven strength based treatment plans collaboratively with clients
  • Write session progress notes expressing client’s progress meeting treatment plan goals
  • Social services library available to volunteers and staff
  • Personal phone extension and computer access
  • 5-8 weekly clients on case load

  • Participate in 40-hour state certified domestic violence counselor training
  • Family Violence Response Team – crisis counseling
  • Co-facilitate emergency shelter children expressive therapy group
  • Individual (child, teen and adult) and family therapy
  • Play Therapy Room
  • One-Way Mirror
  • Direct Coaching/Video/Audio Supervision
  • Co-facilitate sexual abuse victims and non-offending family group with licensed or intern therapeutic staff
  • Training, shadowing and coaching in Parent Child Interaction Therapy
  • Agency in-service trainings
  • Experience with public and private referring agencies
  • Community presentations, fundraisers and events
